The Personal Data used for each purpose is outlined in the specific sections of this document.
7. Detailed information on the processing of Personal Data
Personal Data is collected for the following purposes and using the following services:
A)Contacting the user
Crowd Testing Community (AppMeter) and Prizes
With AppMeter installation each user become part of a crowd testing community. User device unique identifier is used
to send messages about available testing campaigns. Users can choose to be engaged for this campaigns.
AppMeter read data in active and passive mode. Active mode means user access to AppMeter functionalities by its
application interface and run quality test by interaction. Passive means that, without read or access to user
private data, AppMeter read anonymous information during normal device, services and application usage by Users.
Collected data type can be enabled or disabled at “settings > collected data type”. Each data Set is explained in
both reading and using. Each sampled data fill a user Box with a cap. This cap and the fill level are always
available to users at “Statistics > My Stats”. By undisclosed choice of AppMeter, users can receive free prizes
when specific caps are reached. Cap is set to 0 by the first day of a new month. Prizes won are communicated to
users by application itself. Shipping costs of prizes will be charged to users.
The services contained in this section enable the Owner to monitor and analyse web traffic and can be used to keep
track of User behaviour by different data aggregation about usage of application with the goal of create a reference
model of typical device and services usage and an average quality of user experience faced about different network
conditions, device type, geo localization, and different network providers.
8. Further information about Personal Data
8.1 Geo localization
AppMeter may collect, use, and share User location Data in order to provide location-based services. Most devices
provide tools to opt out from this feature by default. If explicit authorization has been provided, AppMeter may
track User’s location data. In this case the geographic location is determined using all the different exclusive
technologies the available for a given device both form physical peripherals and by algorithm applied on specific
information. The Users can decide not to be tracked by disabling the localization on their device or inside AppMeter
application at the function point “Settings > type of collected data” by disabling a check (disabling means
uncheck). The geo location option has the single purpose of creating position based analytics.
8.2 IP Address
AppMeter read this information that is international standard format for IPv4 or IPv6, where used. The IP address
value is a unique identifier of a connected device to an IP network and can be provided by manual settings set by
user himself or provided in automatically handshake by network access provided. This information is used to query
external services to work out device geographical position when other device localization peripherals are switched
off or are not working properly. The localization by IP address is used only if general localization services are
8.3 Cell identifier (CellID)
AppMeter read this information that is a unique numeric identifier of the radio mobile cell tower where the devices
is connected. This numeric code is given by radio mobile networking provider and is sent in a broadcast signal. This
information is used to query external services to work out device geographical position when other device
localization peripherals are switched off or are not working properly. The localization by IP address is used only
if general localization services are enabled. CellID, with other device vitals, is also used to create aggregated
and correlated statistics in order to evaluate Quality of the experience faced by users.
8.4 Device unique identifier
This code is a manufacturing built-in code and is a unique device ID . This information is read from the device and
typical follows the international code format rules. AppMeter uses this ID in two ways: the first one is used to
contact user by clod messaging services (Google Cloud Messaging and Apple Notification). Information sent to user
are about community crowd testing engagements. The second purpose is using part of this code to work out
Manufacturer, brand and model of the device with the goal of create “model based” analytics.
8.5 Date and Time (timestamp)
AppMeter can read information with different sampling settings. Each data read comes with its timestamps. This
indicator is used to collect together subsets of data coming from different users with the goal of generate “time
based” statistics following different time scale as long can be Hour, Day, Week, Month and Year. Timestamp
considered is build upon Date & Time. Those information are read from the ones set on the device and can be, by user choice, network time (Date and Time are in sync with a global time signal referred to GMT) or manual.
8.6 Additional information about Data collection and processing
The User’s Personal Data may be used for legal purposes by the Data Controller, in Court or in the stages leading to
